About the Site

The Museum of the Albemarle is the regional history museum for Northeastern North Carolina interpreting the history of the Albemarle Region and its 13 counties. Located along the waterfront in Elizabeth City, NC, the museum offers a wide variety of exhibits and educational programs. Opening May 10, the chronological exhibit Our Story features over 700 artifacts  on display anchored by a ca 1755 Pasquotank County home and a ca. 1840's Perquimans County smokehouse.

The Museum of the Albemarle encourages visitors to explore and understand the past, and to appreciate the history that shaped the Albemarle Region.

    Hours of Operation: Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

    • Reservations required.
